More Tips for Purchasing a New Boiler

There are lots to think about when having a new boiler installed, and it’s something every homeowner is keen to get right. Your new boiler is a big investment and if you choose wisely it should serve you and your family well for many years. The problem is trying to quickly understand the factors you need to take into account so you choose a boiler that’s a perfect fit for your needs.

Following our last post on things to consider when buying a new boiler, we’ve written some further tips below to help guide you through the process of this important purchase.

More tips to consider when buying a new boiler

The size of your home and family

In simple terms, the bigger your home and family, the bigger size boiler you will need. This doesn’t necessarily mean a literally larger unit, but rather the output of your boiler, as homes with a higher demand of heat and hot water need a boiler with more power.

Factors such as the number of bathrooms in your home will also make a big difference to boiler suitability. For example, a combi boiler is an excellent choice for smaller homes with one bathroom and can work extremely efficiently. However, for homes with multiple bathrooms, they usually can't fulfil need as they only run to a single water source at a time.

If you want to go Smart

When you have a new boiler installed it’s an ideal time to consider other easy upgrades to complement it. Smart technology is ever-growing, with Smart thermostats allowing homeowners to control their heating from wherever they are in the world. So if you leave your heating on by mistake, you can adjust it from an app on your phone. Equally, if it turns cold while you’re out, you can set your heating on the go so you’re coming back to a toasty home!

Ensuring you have enough quotes

Quotes can vary greatly between engineers, so ensure you get at least 3 separate ones before you commit. The type and brand of boiler will also naturally have an impact, and while you don’t want to overpay, you also don’t want to go too cheap and potentially end up having to replace your boiler a few years down the line!
